Curriculum Vitae

Education:

Ph.D. – Iowa State University –Molecular Genetics and Immunogenetics 2002
M.S - Iowa State University -Bioinformatics and Computational Biology- 2003
M.S. – Yangzhou University –Animal Breeding and Genetics- 1991
B.S. – Yangzhou University – Animal Science-1988

Research Emphasis:
  • Immunogenetics and functional genomics

  • Molecular and cellular mechanisms of interactions among chicken gut-associated immune system, human food-borne pathogens, and gut micro flora

  • Pre-harvest food safety by reducing colonization of human food-borne pathogens such as Campylobacter and Clostridium perfergens in poultry

  • Genetic control of disease resistance in poultry

Courses Taught:

POSC 485 -- Undergraduate Research Program

POSC 414 -- Poultry Genetics and Breeding

POSC 689 -- DNA Microarray Analysis -- 3 credit hours -- The overall objective of this course is to provide students with a broad and detail knowledge and some hands-on experience in DNA microarray analysis. The physics, chemistry, biology, and statistics associated with this technique will be introduced. Experimental designs for microarray analysis to understand functional and structural genomics will be discussed.
