Dr. Bailey Receives Grant
Dr Christopher Bailey has received a $60,000 grant from the U.S - Egypt Joint Science and Technology Fund for a study entitled "Antibiotic Alternatives to Avoid the Risk of Bacterial Resistance on Human Health." The objective of this project is to evaluate various bioactive phytochemical extracts (primarily steroidal and triterpenoid saponins from drought tolerant plants) as alternatives to antibiotics which will be bactericidal, antiprotozoal, and will promote growth and feed efficiency without risk of increasing bacterial resistance. He will be collaborating with Dr. Mohamed M. Osman of the Suez Canal University of Egypt. Congratulations to Dr. Bailey!
