Dr.
Lee Cartwright has received a $60,000 grant from the US-Egypt Joint Science
and Technology Board for a project entitled "Economic Improvement of Quail
Production in the US and Egypt." Half of the funds are from US sources
and half are form Egyptian sources. This project continues his earlier research
relationship with Dr. Mohamed Mady of the Suez Canal University on ostriches.
Quail are an important meat producing bird that are being raised for flight
use in hunting and for confined rearing for meat production. The research will
focus on improved feeding and disease prevention programs.
