Dr. John Carey Accepts Department Head Position

Dr. John Carey has accepted our offer to serve as head of the Department of Poultry Science, effective January 1, 2008. He brings strong credentials and good experience to this leadership role. His outstanding service as interim department head should make this a smooth transition.

I would like to commend the Search Committee members, chaired by Dr. John Nichols, for their outstanding work in attracting a strong pool of candidates and in selecting highly-qualified top candidates as finalists from that pool. After considering the feedback from the faculty, staff, and students, and after careful evaluation of what we believe to be the direction and needs for the department, our administrative team decided to extend to offer to Dr. Carey, and he accepted.

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, we welcome Dr. Carey to his new assignment as department head.
