A Note From Ed Lee in Washington, DC

Howdy All,

This is Ed. I was just writing to update ya'll on the DC experience through the Ag and Natural Resources internship. I got to attend quiet a few inaugural parties and balls. During that time, I got to meet Senator John Cornyn, Honorable Chet Edwards, ZZ Top, and the Bush Twins! Work has been getting busier and busier. NASDA's Mid-Year meeting is coming up in 2 weeks and we are scrambling to get everything ready for all the state Ag commissioners and such. NASDA stands for National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. I have been learning a lot about international trade and export issues especially dealing with China. I will also get to travel to Chicago in May with our Trade Show director and help him coordinate the Chinese delegation that will be in attendance. On Thursday, I will get to attend a Senate Ag committee hearing on the effects of BSE, when the border will be reopened with Canada, and the Japan trade issue.
