The Department is very pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship endowment in honor of the career of Dr. Fred Thornberry. On the occasion of his retirement, several colleagues, friends, and family contributed over $6,000 to a scholarship fund in Dr. Thornberry's name. His daughters, Molly Thornberry Whisenant and Michelle Thornberry Bunch, generously donated $20,000 to the fund to create a permanent endowment. The fund will continue to grow with future contributions and produce a scholarship for a deserving poultry science major each year. The daughters surprised their father with the announcement of "The Drs. Fred D. and Nancy Thornberry Endowed Scholarship" at his retirement dinner on September 25, 2004. We are grateful for their generosity and for the career of Dr. Thornberry.
