     The TAMU Poultry Science Department and the USDA-ARS-SPARC laboratory have several joint research projects and collaborations in the area of food safety and related microbiology. Several USDA scientists have adjunct faculty status in our Department and train graduate students and post-docs.

     The Poultry Science and Veterinary Pathobiology Departments work together to address poultry health programs. We have several jointly appointed faculty (Berghman, Caldwell, Lupiani, Reddy). We also teach several cross-listed courses, have many active research collaborations, and jointly operate the Poultry Health Research Laboratory and its associated avian biological level 2 isolation facility.

Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory

     The Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory provides a wide range of diagnostic and consultative services in bird heath and diseases. The Poultry Science Department faculty ahve full access to these services fro research, graduate student training, and public/industry outreach. Several Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory scientists are avian specialists.
