Drs. Jason Lee and Rosemary Walzem were appointed to the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) committee within the Division on Earth & Life Sciences (DELS) under the supervision of the Board on Agriculture and Natural Resources (BANR) to develop the 10th edition of Nutrient Requirements for Poultry. This standard, formerly also known as “the NRC” was last revised in 1994. In the nearly quarter century since its last revision birds, feed components, bird health management and consumer preferences have shifted significantly.
There are 11 committee members. Texas A&M is the only university to have two faculty members on the committee. More information about the NASEM and its study process can be found at http://www.nationalacademies.org/studyprocess/.
