Sohini Bhatia Awarded Merck Animal Health Fellowship

Ms. Sohini Bhatia, a Ph.D. student in the Poultry Science Department was chosen as the 2018 Merck Animal Health Graduate Fellow. This prestigious award by the Poultry Science Association supports her Ph.D. dissertation research on using Metabolically Active yet Non-Culturable (MAyNC) state of bacterial cells as a vaccine candidate. Her research is focused on developing a vaccine against necrotic enteritis a major poultry disease caused by Clostridium perfringens. Sohini is student in Dr. Pillai’s research program in the Department of Poultry Science and will be conducting her research both at TAMU and at the USDA-ARS labs in College Station.
