Emily Kimminau Awarded Merck Animal Health Fellowship

The Poultry Science Association Foundation (PSA Foundation) was pleased to announce the Award of the Inaugural Ph.D. Fellowship from Merck Animal Health during the International Production and Processing Expo in Atlanta, GA. Merck Animal Health’s generous gift will support the Poultry Research Fellowship of Ms. Emily Kimminau in the Poultry Science Department of Texas A&M University. (Merck Animal Health Fellowships). Dr. Suresh Pillai Receives Grant from the USDA Formula Animal Health Program

Dr. Suresh Pillai, Professor and TAES Faculty Fellow in the Departments of Poultry Science and Nutrition and Food Science, received funding from the USDA Formula Animal Health program administered but eh TAMU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Pillai’s proposal, entitled “Metabolically Active, Non-Culturable Clostridium perfingens Cocktails to control Necrotic Enteritis in Broilers”, received $48,221 in funding for the proposed two year project. Congratulations Dr. Pillai!

Dr. Luc Berghman Receives Grant from the USDA Formula Animal Health Program

Dr. Luc Berghman, Associate Professor in the Departments of Poultry Science and Veterinary Pathobiology, received funding from the USDA Formula Animal Health program administered by the TAMU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Berghman’s proposal, entitled “An Antibody-Guided Coccidiosis Vaccine: Harnessing Cell-Mediated Immunity Through CD40 Signaling” received $59,079 in funding for the proposed two year project. Congratulations Dr. Berghman!        

POSC Students Receive Awards at the 2016 International Poultry Scientific Forum

Morouj Al-Ajeeli, Rocky Latham, and Cody Flores received Certificates of Achievement awards at the 2016 International Poultry Scientific Forum January 25-26 in Atlanta, Georgia. These awards were presented to these students in recognition of their outstanding research presentations at this annual meeting. 2015 PSA Award Winners CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Poultry Science Association Tri Duong, Ph.D. – Hy-Line International Research Award – This award is given to a member who, in the preceding calendar year, as sole or senior author, published outstanding research in poultry science. The Aggie Leadership Council (2014-2015 Cohort) traveled to Washington DC in April for a leadership development workshop to gain insight into agricultural policy and the legislative process. Poultry Judging Team Wins 2015 US Poultry and Egg Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest

The Texas A&M University Poultry Judging Team traveled to Baton Rouge, LA to compete in the 2015 US Poultry and Egg National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest on April 16th and 17th. Nine teams from across the nation competed in the two day competition which was hosted by the Louisiana State University. The contest concluded with Texas A&M winning the overall team competition. Students Receive Awards at IPPE 2015

Tucker Allcorn and Hunter Walters received Student Research Paper Certificates of Excellence for presenting high-quality research papers at the 2015 International Production and Processing Exposition Annual Meeting held in Atlanta, Georgia on January 26th -29th, 2015. Both presentations were submitted in the Nutrition and Metabolism section and involved the use of various enzymes on broiler performance.
