Department of Poultry Science Welcomes Yuhua and Morgan Farnell

Over the course of the summer, the Department of Poultry Science was honored to welcome Drs. Yuhua and Morgan Farnell back to Texas A&M University to join our departmental faculty. Dr. Luc Berghman Receives Award at the 2016 Poultry Science Association Annual Meeting

Dr. Luc R. Berghman was presented with the Zoetis Fundamental Science Award at the 2016 Poultry Science Association Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. This award was given in recognition of his outstanding achievement in basic disciplines (genetics, genomics, immunology, molecular, cellular, developmental biology, physiology,  poultry health, proteomics) and his sustained high quality contributions to fundamental science that has advanced the field of poultry science. Dr. Suresh Pillai to Serve on the Advisory Council on Food System Innovation

Dr. Suresh Pillai has been selected to serve on the Advisory Council on Food System Innovation. Dr. Giridhar Athrey Receives Grant from the Robert J. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation

Dr. Giridhar Athrey,  Assistant Professor in the Department of Poultry Science, has been awarded a grant from the Robert J. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation. The proposal entitled, “Flaviviral integration into the vector genome as a driver of Zika virus transmission” received $211,372 in funding for the two year project. Dr. Gabriel Hamer (Entomology) is the collaborator. Congratulations Dr. Athrey!

Poultry Science Dept Receives Grant From USPOULTRY Harold E. Ford Foundation and Tyson Foods

The USPOULTRY Harold E. Ford Foundation and Tyson Foods have awarded a grant in the amount of $34,766 to the TAMU Poultry Science Department. This grant will support the Poultry Science department efforts to continue to recruit, retain, and graduate the best and brightest students for long-term contributions to the commercial and allied industries.

Spring 2016 Poultry Science Graduates

The Poultry Science department graduated one M.Agr. and twenty BS students during the Spring 2016 College of Agriculture and Life Sciences commencement ceremony held on May 13th. Congratulations to all!

Dr. Luc Berghman Recognized at the 2016 Patent and Innovations Award Luncheon

Dr. Luc Berghman was recognized for his accomplishments during the 2016 Patent and Innovations Award Luncheon which was held on Thursday, April 4, 2016. Poultry Judging Team Wins 2016 US Poultry and Egg Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest

The Texas A&M University Poultry Judging Team traveled to Baton Rouge, LA to compete in the 2016 US Poultry and Egg National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest on April 7th and 8th. Eleven teams from across the nation competed in the two day competition which was hosted by the Louisiana State University. The contest concluded with Texas A&M winning the overall team competition.
